Ambassador Bible Center Welcomes the Class of 2015
The sixteenth year of ABC began with the welcoming picnic on August 17 at the home office. The theme this year for the picnic was "Deutsches Sommerfest" with food and games to fit. The lecture hall and dining area were decorated in gold, black and red--colors of the flag of Germany. Two alumni dressed in German garb greeted our 30 new students and their familes.
Our first activity was a "person scavenger hunt", where new students had to find people who matched various German-themed clues (have you ever eaten marzipan?). Once winners had been announced, it was time to dig into a German feast! The menu included large beef hot dogs (like bratwurst), German potato salad, German red cabbage slaw, spaetzle (German noodles), washed down with root beer and ginger beer. Dessert was apple strudel with ice cream.
After lunch, students were divided into five teams (Bavarians, Saxons, Prussians, Berliners and Rhinelanders) to enjoy friendly competition in some alumni-designed games. The top two scoring teams were awarded commuter cups, perfect for use while studying and in the classroom. The day ended with new relationships started and a good time enjoyed by all. Welcome, class of 2015! We're glad you're here!
